Abstract

Fandom's gift economy should be understood as involving a wide variety of gifts, a complex system of reciprocation, and the use of gifts as a sign of their reception.

Tisha Turk, University of Minnesota, Morris

Tisha Turk is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Minnesota, Morris, where she teaches courses on writing, composition studies, the novel, narrative theory, and gender studies. She has written on the rhetorical and narratological dimensions of transformative works ranging from postcolonial novels to fan vids; her current research focuses on vidding and vidwatching.
