TWC / SCMS Fan and Audience Studies group graduate student essay contest

Transformative Works and Cultures is pleased to announce a partnership with the Society of Cinema and Media Studies Fan and Audience Studies special interest group for their graduate essay contest. Essays, articles, and dissertation chapters related to audience and fan studies, especially those that push the field in new directions topically or methodologically, of up to 7,500 words are welcome. Submitting authors must be currently enrolled in a graduate program and registered members of the SCMS Fan and Audience Studies special interest group. The winning author will receive individual mentoring of their article toward publication in Transformative Works and Cultures, subject to peer review. Submissions are due August 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST to tinyurl.com/faasgradessay26. Please contact the special interest group at scmsfaas@gmail.com, rather than TWC, with any questions. We are excited at how this initiative will continue TWC's mission of supporting developing scholars and finding new directions in fan and audience studies.
