TWC 48, special issue on Disability and Fandom, is released

2026-06-15

Transformative Works and Cultures has released No. 48, a special issue on Disability and Fandom, guest edited by Olivia Johnston Riley and Lauren Rouse.

The essays in this issue focus on disability both as a marginalized identity and as a critical scholarly approach to fandom and fan studies.  As the co-editors explain in their opening editorial, this special issue intends to lay the groundwork for a robust field of disability fan studies, “allowing future knowledge-makers greater legibility for their work while highlighting the most pressing questions of this growing subfield.”

We accept submissions for our general issues on a rolling basis. The general issue is always released on September 15.
