New Section -- Multimedia!

Transformative Works and Cultures is excited to announce that we are officially launching a new section of the journal titled Multimedia, spearheaded by our newly (re)named Symposium & Multimedia Editors.

In the past, we have accepted multimedia submissions by request and/or invitation. However, moving forward, Multimedia will be its own section in the journal which authors can submit to directly. This decision builds on our tradition of expanding fan studies by incorporating a variety of fan experiences and practices. It is our hope that the addition of this section will allow us to engage a broader audience in modes they are more familiar with than if we continued to focus on text alone. 

The Multimedia section, thus, publishes video essays, comics, and other formats that combine text with other media. Multimedia welcomes submissions by fans and academics alike. Submissions should provide insight into current developments and debates surrounding topics related to fandom, transformative media, and fan cultures inspired by fandom’s vibrant history of criticism (aka meta). 

Our submissions guidelines have been updated to reflect this change.
