Really enjoyed this; I had read the Sedai story but did not know much about the published story that it was a "riff" of, and it's fascinating to get some context for a subgenre of fanfiction that is extremely popular and yet, I imagine, very hard to make plausible or get "right".

I read your article "Slashing the Romance Narrative" years ago and quite enjoyed. I was delighted to see your name here.
