The announcement of Kindle Worlds as open to writers of fan fiction provides an opening to discuss the field of fan studies in terms of fandom communities and individual self.

Katherine E. Morrissey, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Katherine Morrissey is a PhD Candidate in Media, Cinema and Digital Studies in the English Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also has a Master’s in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University. Katherine’s research interests include popular romance, gender and sexuality within popular media, and participatory culture.
